School policing the internet?

Okay, so here's what I so far have from reliable sources. Today, the administration of our Cortland Jr/Sr High has suspended several students from after-school activities, because of stuff the school found on the internet. Apparently, the administration has been searching around on myspace.com for students' personal pages, and they have a list of all students found to have "drug or alcohol-related content" on the internet.

~News flash~
The school has no right to
punish students for anything
done off school property.

It is simply out of their jurisdiction. It is none of the school's business, what students post on the internet on their own time. I wouldn't hesitate to wonder if our administration is trying to turn our school into some fascist commune. I'm not saying that I condone drug/alcohol use, but this is a free speech issue. Material that students post on the internet is not the school's business. I can write whatever I want here, because the United States Constitution guarantees me a right to free speech. This is what makes America so great.

The school has no right to do this. The administration is inviting media coverage, lawsuits, and angry phone calls. I think it'll do our administrators some good, as they desperately need a reality check.

If I hear of any further developments, you can be assured that I'll post them. Good night everyone.

Tiffany, your mother is a fat whore. Please find something better to do than posting spam on my web site.

Tiffany:

I have little sympathy for you, simply because you are advertising on my site. Posting a comment solely to redirect traffic to some money-making scheme (which I assume would only add more advertising to this blog, were I to participate in it), without making reference to my post's content at all or adding to the discussion is called spam. This blog has comments turned on so others can participate in discussion; not so my viewers can be bombarded with advertising. Please take your business elsewhere.

Chris - I agree - that is illegal. If you really take offense at the issue, check with the local laws about it.

I signed my post Batman because it is my username at another online forum. However, I will not link to it because you will just go there and spam up the whole joint.

Chris, if you want a wordpress.com invite (spam post protection/ip blocking anyone?), I'll send it your way.

Seriously - Tiffany - GET A LIFE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. You are just spamming every site within your reach it seems. Your only blog post is "Easily Attract Hotties ... more bull shit". Your blog has been flagged, and you have been reported to blogger - have a nice day. Isn't it fun when you mess with a Blogger Developer?

Clarification - I was calling the suspension of student due to web content illegal.

As stated above, now in super radiant html goodness, GET A LIFE!

Um...

"...and it's not illegal to post a comment that gives a compliment and points back to one's web site..."

It's not illegal, but it is spamming, especially when over half of your comment was simply advertising for another site that you linked to. Your own blog shows that you care little about contributing to insightful discussion, and are just out to spread advertising.

This becomes even more apparent when your blog only has one entry. It is an advertisement for a "Guaranteed Method to Get Laid Tonight". Perhaps you should take your own advice on that point; at least copulation is a more constructive activity than advertising on other people's blogs.

"not only do you not demonstrate a mature response"

Well at least I have proper spelling and grammar... something that is sorely lacking in several of your comments. Tiffany... I have some better money-making advice. Judging by both your profile picture and your blog content (or lack thereof), you'd best take after your mother. Perhaps then you'd make more money than you would by advertising on others' web sites.
