I mean really, what's your favorite? I really like Bottle Caps. They're just so much fun to eat. Post a picture of your favorite candy as a comment.

Summer's Requiem

Well, school starts tomorrow, and this is going to be a lengthy post (to make up for the summer's blogging negligence).

I just had a bowl of hot Macaroni and Cheese, and I'm sitting on the couch listening to Green Day, Blind Faith (their only album ever), and Aldo Nova. Nobody's home, so I'm blaring the stereo and I just cranked down the AC to 65. I'm not cold though, because my computer gets fairly warm during use. Due to all this, I'm feeling quite nostalgic and laid-back.

School starts tomorrow and I have a bit of a sore throat, so I thought I'd take it über-easy today. I took what I'd consider to be the best screencap ever, and then I had to go do yard work for neighbors. I slept for about an hour this afternoon, and then just laid in bed for a while, feeling like this was a really good summer. The highlight of which was spending a week at Cranberry Lake Biological station...

The best picture in the world could not do that view justice. Well worth the 5-mile hike that day. During my stay at CLBS, I caught up with some Homer buddies, and met some interesting new friends from Marcellus, Fulton, and ESM. I would enthusiastically recommend this experience to anybody whose school allows them to attend.

Apart from that, my summer consisted mainly of sleeping, playing with Bob and Charley (who have grown quite large in recent months), watching CNN (closely following that horrendous disaster on the Gulf Coast, and FEMA's laughable piss-take (watch the whole thing through) at helping those affected), talking to friends near and far online, constructing an iPod charger from an Altoids box, hanging with David and Lauren (also Alicia and Andrea on a couple occasions), posting on AppleNova (yay, >1000 posts!), and defending the world from your mom.

Yeah, it was a great summer, but it is now drawing to a close, hence my post title. We are in for an interesting school year; I can tell from the "information" sheet that they mailed everybody. Same incompetent administrative lineup (I shall call them Team Stupid™ from now on), stricter dress code, and same shitty lunch food. And, I'll be in 3 advanced classes. But I'll have 2 study halls. And a lunch. That reminds me, our school is supposed to have a wireless router this year. I'll try and access it tomorrow and post from lunch. Speaking of which, there will be no 7th or 8th graders in my lunch this year. Hooray for 4 lunch periods!

That's all for now; everyone have a good first day of school.

Formatting Corrected!

A few months ago, I made the mistake of making the main post window too wide, to allow for posting of larger pictures here without running into the sidebar. That made the page look really ugly in a normal browser window, because the posts would be up against the side of the window, like this:

Well, I've been good about scaling down my images before posting lately, so I turned the width of the page down a tad. This blog should now look much better in a standard-width browser window, not just a maximized Safari window at 2048x768 (like I have here).
