Patriot Act Expansion

Last year, I warned you all about the dangers of the Patriot Act, and how your rights are being threatened by the current incompetent administration. In recent days, however, the Patriot Act is nearing its expiration. That would be good, except for one thing: George Bush wants to make the Patriot Act permanent. Also, new expansions would be enacted, allowing the government to subpoena almost any data they please to without a judge, on the basis of accused "terrorism", which is a stupid, ambiguous term and could apply to almost any activity. Would you like our government to subpoena your records and arrest you without warrant because of some stupid, pissant offense like jaywalking? That's exactly what they could do, under the new Patriot Act.

I believe that our government is sounding much like the following:

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
